'Roh' is the medieval name of Afghanistan. Etymologically the word Roh is derived from the Sanskrit "Rohitagiri"m (Red hill). Panini of 4th century B.C, Sanskrit grammarian from modern-day Charsadda, informs that highlanders dwelt on the Rohitagiri.
